State Representative Raney Assigned To Prominent Committees

Austin, TX —- Today, the Speaker of the Texas House, Joe Straus (San Antonio), appointed Members of the Texas House to 38 standing committees and three select committees for the 83rd Legislature.

State Representative John Raney (Bryan) has been assigned to three prominent committees for his first term of service in the Texas House: Appropriations, Higher Education, and House Administration.  These committees are scheduled to begin meeting the week of February 4, 2013.

“I could not be more proud to receive such a vote of confidence from the leadership in the House,” Raney said of his appointments.  “I look forward to learning from senior Members,  as well as contributing and standing up for our community.”

Although this is Raney’s first legislative session, he has been a member of the legislature since being sworn in on December 23, 2011.  He is a sixth generation Texan and long-time community member of the Bryan-College Station area, as well as the owner of Texas Aggieland Bookstore for 44 years.  He is married to Elizabeth and together they have two daughters and sons-in-law and 6 grandchildren.
