(AUSTIN, TEXAS) Since taking his oath of office December 23rd, State Rep. Raney (Bryan) has met with those involved with the administration of the Texas House of Representatives, attended a very informative, enjoyable two-day public policy forum hosted by Texas Public Policy Foundation, met with Speaker Joe Straus and numerous members of the Texas House, and hired his Chief of Staff.

“I appreciate beyond words the community support I’ve received and I look forward to taking an active role in addressing the issues affecting the residents and business owners of District 14 and the State of Texas. I vow to provide a consistent, honorable, and conservative voice,” Rep. Raney said.

Speaker Joe Straus recently appointed Rep. Raney to the House Committee on Higher Education and the House Committee on Land and Resource Management. Given Rep. Raney’s extensive history with Texas A&M and its surrounding community as a student, business owner, and resident, he is looking forward to working with his colleagues and multiple state agencies. He will focus on investing in higher education excellence by aggressively seeking research funding and creating partnerships to bring jobs to District 14. By serving on the House Committee on Land and Resource Management, Rep. Raney will be strongly involved in government land regulation issues. He will closely monitor the management of public lands and will fight to limit government intrusion through the methods of eminent domain, annexation, and zoning.

Rep. Raney is pleased to announce that he hired Anna C. Hynes as his Chief of Staff. Ms. Hynes’s career began in the Legislature in 1999 as an Assistant Committee Clerk for the House Committee on Corrections. She soon became Legislative Aide, then Legislative Director, then Chief of Staff for former State Rep. Pat Haggerty (El Paso). For the past three years, she was employed by Rep. Tim Kleinschmidt (Lexington), Vice-Chair of Land and Resource Management, as his Legislative Director. Anna has a strong background in office management and has built effective working relationships with various stakeholders and agencies within the Capitol environment. Anna will be a great asset to Rep. Raney’s office.
