Austin, TX- Today, December 15th, State Representative John Raney (R-Bryan College Station) will swear in College Station Mayor Nancy Berry and former city of Bryan Mayor Pro-Tem Ann Horton to their newly created seats on the Blinn College Board of Trustees.

House Bill 2621, filed by Representative Raney in the 84th Legislative Session, added two members to the board of trustees from any county with a Blinn College campus that has over 10,000 students. The Blinn Bryan Campus has approximately 13,500 students, and represents the vast majority of the student population in the overall Blinn College System. This bill was filed after the outcry of students, faculty, and community members for equal treatment of Blinn Bryan students compared with their counterparts in Brenham.

“The inequity our students are experiencing is widely known in Brazos County. Our students need a voice on the board of trustees to help address these problems. I knew something had to be done and I am happy to see the results of our hard work,” Representative Raney said. ” Mayor Berry and former Mayor Pro-Tem Horton will do an excellent job, and the students are lucky to have such strong advocates.”
