Representative Raney Presents Ornament for Texas House Christmas Tree

(AUSTIN, TEXAS) To celebrate Christmas at the Texas State Capitol, State Representative John Raney (R-Bryan) presented the District 14 ornament to hang on the Lone Star Celebration Christmas Tree in the House Chamber.

This ornament, designed by Representative Raney’s daughter Beth Raney Hawkins and granddaughter Raney Caroline Hawkins, includes the names of Representative Raney’s six grandchildren and their future graduation years. It represents all the great traditions experienced by children growing up in Aggieland and their potential futures with Texas A&M University.

The District Ornament Project began in 2009 to give all of the Texas communities a place on the Lone Star Celebration Christmas Tree, a 20-foot native Texas tree that stands in the Chamber of the House of Representatives. The ornaments were placed on the tree on December 6, 2013, and will remain there through January 2, 2014. The story of each ornament is displayed in an album in the House Chamber so that visitors to the Capitol may learn each ornament’s story.
