State Representative John Raney continues to bring home results to Texas A&M and the Brazos Valley.

Raney continues to serve on the House Committees on Higher Education and Appropriations, the committee that crafts the state’s budget. These committees impact the Brazos Valley community more than any other committees in the Legislature. With his participation in the budget process, millions of dollars came home, helping Texas A&M University do what it does best – educate and create our future leaders!

With John Raney’s involvement and support, A&M victories include:

• Narrowing the gap in per student funding at A&M;
• Funding new labs;
• Funding research to abate many vector-borne diseases;
• Increasing funding for Graduate Medical Education programs;
• Investing in at-risk students;
• Helping fund Kyle Field expansion;
• Increasing funding for Texas Armed Services Scholarship Program to $10,000 per recipient;
• Partnering Energy Systems Laboratory at A&M with state agencies to increase state-owned buildings’ energy efficiency;
• The Texas A&M System receiving $727.4 million for campus improvements;
• Helping fund research on new transportation materials and methods;
• Prohibiting sex offenders from living in on-campus housing;
• Helping fund the Large Animal Biocontainment Safety Lab;
• Increasing access by removing red tape for student veterans;

“One of the most memorable days in my life was receiving my Aggie ring. Having to work and pay my way through college, the ring I proudly wear is a daily reminder of my hard work and determination, the sacrifices I made, and the countless Aggies who helped me along the way – it’s what drives me to give back to my school,” John Raney said.

Realizing the significance of the roles Aggies play in government, in 2019, John Raney created and served as inaugural Chair of the Aggie Legislative Caucus. The purpose of the caucus is to facilitate a unified coalition to study and develop policy promoting matters of interest to Texas A&M University and the Aggie community in Texas. Given the unique talents and experiences of caucus members, a new Chair is selected to lead each session.
