John Raney Announces Re-Election Bid

Bryan, TX – State Representative John Raney (R-Bryan/College Station) today announced he will seek re-election to the Texas House of Representatives.

“I am excited to announce that I will be seeking re-election to the Texas House of Representatives,” Representative Raney said.

“The 86th Legislative Session concluded with many victories, including increased funding and safety for our schools, investment in our retired teachers, prioritization of safe communities, property tax reform, improved transportation infrastructure, expansion of emergency preparedness, and a state budget that remains fiscally responsible.”

Representative Raney was successful in the passage of meaningful legislation, local and statewide, that focused on increased safety for our children in daycare, fair pay for individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities, increased per-student funding for Texas A&M students, providing education opportunities for students in disaster-stricken areas, removing renewal barriers for certain professional occupational license holders, and promotion of energy efficiency for state-owned buildings.

Representative Raney has represented the residents and business owners of House District 14 since 2011. He currently serves on the House Committee on Transportation and the House Committee on International Relations and Economic Development.

“With the expansion of the bio-corridor and the continued influence of Texas A&M, Bryan-College Station is attracting domestic and international business. As our community continues to grow, diversification of the employment market and keeping up with infrastructure demands are not only vital to our community, but to our great state,” said Rep. Raney. “It is a blessing beyond measure to serve you. I hope to build upon the momentum and the successes we’ve worked hard every day to accomplish by continuing to be your voice in Austin.”

A lifelong resident of Bryan and a member of the Texas A&M Class of 1969, John has previously served his community in various civic roles including Chairman of the Republican Party of Brazos County, Civic Division Vice-President of the Bryan College Station Chamber of Commerce, a member of the National Federation of Independent Business and the Texas Retailers Association, where he served on its Tax and Legislative Committee and Executive Committee.

Representative Raney is a proud sixth-generation Texan and the founder and operator of Texas Aggieland Bookstore, currently in its 50th year of operation. He and his family are members of First United Methodist Church in Bryan, where he has served in various leadership roles. He also served in the Texas Army National Guard as 1st Lieutenant from 1969 to 1975.
