Speaker Re-Appoints Raney to Prominent Committees

Austin, TX – Speaker of the Texas House of Representatives, Joe Straus (R-San Antonio), has released the full list of House Committee appointments for the 85th Legislative Session.

State Representative John Raney (R-Bryan/College Station) was pleased to once again be placed on the House Committees on Appropriations, House Administration, and Higher Education where he has been promoted to Vice-Chairman. This will be the third session Representative Raney is serving on these committees, and he is looking forward to using his previous experience to further promote Brazos County Values.

I am eager to get to work in my new position as Higher Education Vice-Chairman, and continuing my work on important issues facing our community addressing higher education, transportation, and job growth.”

Representative Raney was sworn-in on December 23, 2011. He was reelected by his Republican colleagues to be the Secretary of the Republican Caucus for the 85th Legislature. Representative Raney is a proud sixth-generation Texan, and is long-time community member of the Bryan-College Station area, as well as a small business owner for more than forty-eight years.
